I was wondering what everyone's favorite Pike book was?
I have to say that mine is "The Starlight Crystal". There was just something so haunting and beautiful about that story. And it was weird. Science-Fiction, romance, thriller, with a huge undertone of religion. Gotta love it! |

The Last Vampire ...errr.... I mean Thirst! Not Creatures Of Forever but 2,3,4 or 5!

"See You Later" is my personal favourite, though "The Season of Passage" comes a close second.
I just loved the ending of SYL so much. I always think about it. I wish I still owned a copy. "You’re giving away what is most precious in your own society, and you’re giving it away without a fight and you’re even praising the people who want to deny you the right to resist it. Shame on you while you do this. Make the best use of the time you’ve got left. This is really serious."

Witch lol. I cried throughout. -A- .
And hmm. I pretty much liked the midnight club & last act - because last act was the book that made me love him. XD. |

I'm not picking one favorite!
![]() Too many to love. ^-^ Season of Passage and Starlight Crystal are two of my favorites because they've really helped shape my views on life and stuff. I love The Midnight Club 'cause it's heart-wrenching, but beautiful. Bitter and sweet. Weekend is one of my favorites too, even if it's one of his more shallow books, without too many deep layers of philosophy and ancient evil and stuff. I just love the characters; they're so fresh and funny. And... I love all of his other books, too. ^-^ Only The Tachyon Web and Blind Mirror; I wasn't too happy about them. "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

The midnight club was awesome! :D. It was indeed heart wrenching. ;A; .
The only one that I never really get to complete is the tachyon web too. i just didn't like it overly science fiction |: . I loved his short stories in tales of terror! :] |
|
Yeah, the first time I checked The Tachyon Web out, I read about a chapter and returned it. Then I tried it again when I was running out of his books at the library to read. The only thing I remember about it is peaceful aliens...
I need to re-read Tales of Terror! =O The only stories I remember are the ones 'bout Marvin and the crazy fan and the aliens that possessed the human teenagers. ![]() "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

I thought the last story was pretty awesome, the one where the crazy girl gets all weird when she's feeling scared. XD.
I didn't really get Sati too |:. I was like Huh?!?! Cause it's all about a girl who thinks she's god. :|. And it's just cookies / listening to talk. Not my type, I guess. I like action :D! |
|
Nuh clue what story that would be. More description! :P
I actually loved Sati. I was never really into religion, but the way Sati spoke, or Pike wrote, it all just seemed to be fresh... and it actually make sense. xD So I liked it. It didn't even seem like that big of a book to me. =O It was better than the majority of his adult books to me, with the exception of Season of Passage. "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

I'm scared of giving spoilers here. XD. Incase others haven't read it yet O: .
It just seemed magical, right? XD. But it gets boring naa :|. I haven't read any of his adults book yet except Sati (which I failed to notice it was)! OTL. Well, atleast I'm reading falling. >_>; . I thought the story he wrote in 666: The number of the beast was awesome! ^^. I just read it, and it totally blew me off!! It's just...so awesome. :D |
|
Oooh. Yeah, nuh spoiling the book for other peoples. :(
It waaas magical, even though everything was more or less ordinary. I waaaanna read Falling! I think I ordered it for Christmas, but it never came in... e-e... Stupid Amazon... You should really read Season of Passage! ^-^ Mhm, mhm, mhm! Saving Face was pretty good, really Pike-y. Now he just needs to write more stories for us. "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

It's reaaaaaaaally hard to find his books here. It's practically extinct. Even libraries don't have them. D:
Sucks. I'm also thinking of buying online, but I'm kinda concerned over the condition (is a quality freak and keeps her books in the condition she bought them in) Yeah! Saving face really spooked me out. What's with those! But it was a reaaaally great story. I enjoyed thoroughly and I think such stories are only what Christopher Pike can pull off with. It's really amazing. |
|
Well, that sucks. :P I'm not very concerned about condition as long as the cover's not falling off and I have all the pages.
Once, I check out "The Lost Mind" and the last chapter was missing. e-e... I think you can buy the books in new condition on Amazon though, some at least. But they cost more. Lots of his books I bought, the shipping and handling cost more than the book itself. xD Yeah, I've never read another author remotely like Christopher Pike. Amelia At-water Rhodes, maaaybe. Just maybe a liiittle like him. And R.L. Stine is like Pike watered-down. "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

I don't like torn pages ;_;
Ouch. That sucks. D: I'll get pissed off. :x. I don't know about that, I guess I will do that when I get desperate enough D: . I've read the short story that Amelia At-water Rhodes wrote though. It was...so dark. I really liked it. But it seemed a little too. urr. fantasy. Boy = Hyena? /: . But I can't judge by one story though. Have you read her other stories enough to tell me some? :D I've never read R.L.Stine's book. I don't know why, but I feel his books don't suit me. I want to try the authors Christopher Pike gets his inspiration from XD |
|
I was mad! =O I don't even remember if I ever got the last few pages... xD
Yeah, I've read most of her stories; all but one, I think. One thing she does that Christopher Pike hasn't done, to my knowledge, is creating a whole world/society. And it's all tied together from book to book. Mostly, she writes about mythical creatures (shapeshifters, witches, vampires). I'd say her first book, In the Forest of the Night, the main character is slightly like Sita from The Last Vampire. Just a liiiittle though. She's worth reading, especially her Kiesha'ra series. ^-^ Yeah, I read 'bout the authors Pike was inspired by on Wikipedia. Not sure if I really wanna read them though. =O I think I was in sixth grade when I read Stine, so he suited me. ^-^ Fear Street wasn't even too bad, I'd still read it today. :D "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

I thought I had read every Pike book but I haven't heard of "Saving Face"! What is that about? I'm in Australia, maybe the title is different here?
|
|
Saving Face is a short story in "666: The Number of the Beast" with a couple other horror stories. ^-^
It's about twins, where one's more successful than the other; so the less pretty, less smart, less everything twin resents her. Then Pike-stuff ensues. Read! Dunno about title differences in Australia. o.o "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

My favorite Pike book is Sati. A beautiful story.
Runners-up are See You Later and The Eternal Enemy, and finally Weekend. I have a nice Pike book collection, but these 4 are the ones I re-read more often than the others. |
