so...just wondering what everyone thinks how the movie will be
- should all scenes be kept in it? - should anyone famous play any characters? i still think they'll need to be careful when choosing someone to play sita...no doubt there will be lots of hardcore fans who would have their own idea of how sita should be! i think who ever plays sita will need to give off "old soul" vibes.....since she's meant to be 5000 years old, after all. i really hope they do a good job! i've been a crazy fangirl ever since the books first came out! |

Personally, I think whoever plays Sita should be an unknown, however, for the sake of the movie being successful I imagine they will probably want to cast someone famous.
I hope that the movie is of The Last Vampire and not of Thirst No 1 as I'd like to see the movies stretched out over many releases, one per book (Think Saw, with a new The Last Vampire movie every Halloween lol)... Regardless, I'm not going to complain, even if the movie is terrible (it can't be worse than New Moon, right?) it helps put Pike's name up in big lights and will encourage more people to read his incredible books. |

I have always believed that "Kristen bell" would be the perfect actress to play Sita!
She has the perfect sassy/witty attitude and looks for the part. |

I didn't even know that a movie was being made. I read this book series when it originally came out. I'm so happy to have the original books, but it's great that they are still selling with the new covers and what not!

I think every scene should be kept. The way the first book is written practically lends itself to a movie format. (Frame plot story anyone?) I really think this movie will rock regardless of whatever actors/actresses they use, just because there is such rich original work to base it off of. I especially hope they would keep the violence and love scenes as those help you understand Sita's character. (if they're just making this film to mass market to the psudo-twilight 'vampire' fans, I'm gonna be mad. Sita is everything a vampire should be: violent and compassionate with almost fickle love syndromes. As such she better get covered in blood from time to time.)
Although I could probably see a few places hollywood would 'edit' some scenes if there were later films of the sequel books, especially if they end up toting this as an action/thriller/horror flick versus dark romance/what have you. Hollywood doesn't think it can make money on movies with 'spiritual' aspects, especially if they want it to sell to a christian mainstream. (Not religion bashing here folks, just bluntly stating how the business side of hollywood probably works. There's everyday America that we all live in and then there's the American 'ideal' that caters to mainstream belief.) If they have to use famous actors I'd like to see Bradley Cooper (Face from 'The A-Team') as Yakasha. XD I think he'd make a good villian, plus he's got the baby blues to back up the character. I really don't care who they use for Sita, she just better portray the role as well as it is written in the book. Maybe the girl who played baby doll-Emily Browning-in Sucker Punch?? ....hmm....as for seyemor or Ray....I have no clue who'd be famous that you could use......... |

I'm not sure I'd completely support the idea, but I just saw Hanna 'bout a week ago, and the girl who played Hanna seems like she'd make a good Sita in a few years. Not entirely positive she'd be a good actress for Sita though.
Emily Browning's really pretty to me, but she seems too baby-face'd. I always imagined Sita looking young, but not quite round-face baby-dollish. Dunno thouuugh. Honestly, I'd probably rather see it animated, so they could get the perfect design for Sita. I'd like to see Ezra Miller play someone if the books were made into a live-action movie--I dunno who, 'cause I don't think he's big enough to play Yaksha (who I always thought was brownish/Indian-looking? I dunno if it said that in the book, or I assumed that) or Matt, not dorky enough for Seymour, and probably not manish enough for Ray. But he definitely gives me the vibe of being able to play a good vampire. I almost wanna say Eddie, from the second book, but he's definitely not ugly enough for that. "Religion is man-made. It is not eternal. It is not real."

I have been a huge fan of this series since it was first published in the 90's. I had just started high school in the honors program and was being introduced to many literary masterpieces, but the story of Sita and her exploits always served as a guilty pleasure of mine. Pike's prose was very fluid and vivid, and he introduced to us Sita, a complex, multi-faceted character, who, by nature is a natural killer. As a woman plagued by her past, she feels alone and lives by her wits to protect her quite long and tragic life. It is Pike's character development of Sita that makes her accessible to her audience. Throughout the years, I have often wondered how Sita would be portrayed on screen.
I agree with some of you that she should be portrayed by an unknown actress. The anonymity lends the viewer no preconceived notions, save the character of Sita herself. However, as a people surrounded by media, it is much easier to use qualities of actors (and actresses) that we do know in order to establish what we would like to see. Having said that, these are some actors I think could pull off the major roles of these complex characters. Sita - Emily Browning. Physically, she fits the role: small in stature with piercing, sapphire-like eyes, with an ethereal like beauty. Granted, she has that cherub like roundness to her face, but in my opinion, it adds to the severity of her actions (one recalls Claudia from Interview with the Vampire). Additionally, Browning is an amazing and versatile actress that I feel could really show Sita's development throughout the story in it's entirety. Yaksha - Oscar Isaac. Yeah, I know another Sucker Punch actor... But he exudes a subtle sexuality and a quiet and brooding demeanor that can be construed as both gentle and violent at the same time. There is an exotic quality and an invisible strength with which he Carries himself, a sort of silent gravitas. As for the eyes... well there are contact lenses. Having loved the story from the beginning it is hard to imagine things being left out. I do believe some events are more important than others. What should stay and what should be cut is a difficult decision. The main goal is to tell the story without compromising its integrity. As for the other major characters, I have a few thoughts. What do you guys think? |

Personally I think they should leave all scenes in if you read though from book 1 to book four you need most of the threads through the book I mean not Desperately but there is a lot that you remember and come back to in what may seem to some like a small unimportant part but it is something that just added to story. I hope they do not cut and chop and keep it mostly intact! I also thing Hayden P. would do a great job as Sita I think she is a verasitille actress and could give Sita the strength and the "wickedness" she deserves but keeping the youthful quality from the book!

As another fangirl who thought she was alone in her love for Christopher Pike and particularly The Last Vampire, I think the perfect actress for Sita would be Cloe Grace Moretz. Granted, she's a little young for the part but she's an amazing actress and looks the part. Plus, she wouldn't end up looking too old after several years of filming for a series of movies, considering she shouldn't age at all ;)
I'm super excited for the movie...and also scared. I've thought from the beginning what great movies this series would make (like others, I wish this were the bar rather than Twilight...then again it will blast Twilight to oblivion) but I'm also afraid of how badly Hollywood may screw it up. This has been my favorite series of books since they were published and I'm feeling very protective of them. |
